Yorktown Man, 22, Strikes, Kicks Victim In Domestic Dispute, Police Say

A Yorktown man is facing multiple charges after allegedly threatening to stab his victim while wielding a kitchen knife and hammer during a domestic dispute.

Officers from the Yorktown Police Department were dispatched to a Lexington Avenue apartment in Mohegan Lake at approximately 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday night following reports of a physical altercation inside the building.

Upon arrival, investigating officers determined that Jose Velasquez, 22, allegedly struck his victim int he face and body, kicking him in the back while he was down, causing an injury. Police said that during the dispute, Velasquez allegedly grabbed a kitchen knife and hammer while threatening to stab the victim, causing him to fear for his safety.

Velasquez was arrested and charged with third-degree assault and menacing, both misdemeanors. A Temporary Order of Protection was also issued on behalf of his victim. Velasquez was remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail. He is due back in Yorktown Justice Court on Thursday night to answer the charges.
